AKC Meet The Breeds – Featuring Collies

It was a pleasure to represent the Collie Club of America at the AKC’s 10th Annual Meet the Breeds® event in New York City.

The American Kennel Club hosted over 130 dog breeds. President and Chief Executive Officer, Dennis B. Sprung reported that “the record number of attendees and results of the day yielded a massive education and goodwill opportunity combined with hundreds of positive press and social media placements. In addition, over 100 elected officials were Honorary Chairs of this initiative to highlight the many virtues of our unique purebred dogs and teach responsible ownership.”

Dedicated collie owners Carolyn and Bob McCullough of NY, Suzanne Benchoff of PA, Bree Ardizzone and Renee Lynn of NY joined me in hosting the collie booth. During the course of the day the we greeted hundreds of visitors, explained the two varieties, described the wonderful collie virtues, handed out CCA Collie brochures, How to Find A Breeder pamphlet, and over 75 coloring books and crayons to happy children. Everyone was eager to pet our beautiful, friendly collies Monroe, Avery, Katerina (“KitKat”), Catcher and Riggs, even Phyllis & George Horn’s daughter, Alex, who surprised us with a special visit. But, the best surprise of all was being awarded a huge rosette for 4th Place Booth in the Herding Group.
